Stories from the island of Evia!
ThisIsEvia.com launched back in 2020 as part of a bachelor’s thesis. This coincided with the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic and all the change and new ways this introduced to our world.
The website’s original intent was to offer a visual representation of the island, mostly its landscapes and natural beauty. But roaming around looking for interesting shots, a realization was made. There was really nothing special or original in that. Such content could be found in abundance on multiple websites and social media accounts. And though Evia is a place of diverse sceneries and vast beauty, the lack of human presence and activity made this journey so less interesting.
Eventually the decision to pivot the project’s focus was made. Evia is as much the land as it is the people that inhabit it. People young and old that live and excel here, others by choice, others by necessity, but often people that the world should be aware of. People with interesting stories to tell, but lacking an audience and someone to narrate it. Inspired by similar social documentation projects overtaken by photographers around the world, it is now our mission to record those stories and get them known to the public.

Support ThisIsEvia.com
For the moment ThisIsEvia operates on very limited resources. We do not aim to gain any profit from this project but it can get quite expensive to maintain the website and all the infrastructure needed to operate. Additionally there are significant costs associated with producing the content featured, such as procuring the necessary equipment, editing content, hiring production crew when needed, traveling, feeding and accommodation, etc.
If you like what we do and want to show your appreciation, you can help by donating a small amount, becoming a long-term sponsor of the project or buying some of our limited edition fine-art prints from our e-shop. For the sake of transparency and full disclosure, ThisIsEvia.com will be maintaining a publicly accessible list of income and expenses.
